Purpose is everything.

While it’s not the first time in history businesses are pondering why they exist and who they are to their customers, the current trend based on our research shows that businesses are using purpose to create deeper connections with consumers, do more for the communities with which they work, attract and retain talent, and in the process, are achieving greater results and impact.

Giving is Good for Business

According to a recent study in the Journal of Consumer Research, the social consciousness of a brand leads consumers to believe products are of better quality. Thus, doing good can indeed translate into doing well.

Companies like Amazon use checkout donations to reduce cart abandonment and increase sales. Did you know buyers spend 26% more when this is an option?

In addition, retailers have 29% more deals when it comes to the power of giving back.

What’s more, by supporting non-profits, these smart brands have reduced customer churn rate by 67%.

Customers Want to Work With Good People

The vast majority of consumers want to see brands support charitable initiatives, with many caring enough to take it into consideration when they make a purchase. Over 45% of consumers report they will be more loyal to a brand that supports a social or environmental issue that is close to their hearts and within their communities.

As a result, having some sort of charitable or social responsibility program or partnership is crucial for REALTORS®, as it can be a differentiating feature among competitors.

Buyers and sellers are willing to share with their friends about professionals they trust. In fact, 53% of consumers affirmed they would be more likely to recommend the brand to others in their circles.

People Connect at a Good Company

Giving back improves your personal brand image within the community you do business. It helps people become more aware of what you do and build your “brand halo” within the community.

And if you’re a broker, this is especially key for you to understand:

90% of employees who work for a company that supports charities are proud of their employer. When employees perceive who they work for more positively, they are more productive, motivated, and committed to the company’s overall goals.

REALTORS®: How It Works

1. ORIENTATION

Once you signed up to become a RWS REALTOR®, we will give you an orientation of this process and answer any questions you may have. We will provide a tour of Shriners Hospitals for Children — Northern California, (in person or virtual) depending upon your location and availability. This is an important step as you will see the breadth of quality in care the hospital provides for children in our community.

2. COMMITMENT

Sign the Pledge Agreement Form commits your giving level to Shriners Hospitals for Children — Northern California. You can pledge to do more than a single transaction in a calendar year, and most of our REALTORS® continue to because the giving is rewarding on many levels. The RWS tribe will attest the process is easy to integrate and execute.

3. ESCROW SETUP

We will walk you through the steps of setting up an escrow account so when the transaction closes, the committed charitable giving to the hospital goes directly to Shriners Hospitals for Children — Northern California. We do not touch the funds and this is an important step to show transparency of how funds are dispersed and committed to the hospital.

4. SERVICE

This is where you shine brightest, doing what you do best – service your sellers and buyers. Everything you do in this step follows your normal workflow and brokerage processes. During this step, REALTORS® Who Shrine will check in with you to track your progress and prepare for any communication needed with Shriners Hospitals for Children — Northern California.

5. CLOSE

We will coordinate with Shriners Hospitals for Children — Northern California to conduct a check presentation photo op. The check will be given in your name so the hospital the buyers and the sellers will know you made the charitable gift. If you are available and in the area, you may opt to come along with us to present the check to the hospital and take a few pictures.

6. DONATION & REPORTING

Throughout the process, we will monitor your progress as well as report your giving contributions. Each time a gift over $3,000 is made, we’ll issue a press release announcing your gift to the media and the community. You may also use this for your marketing needs. All giving totals will be recognized in our report and online on this website.
